How To Find A Good Chiropractor.
Find someone that will listen to you.
Find an Evidence-Based Chiropractor.
- A good chiropractor should determine all musculoskeletal complaints and complete an in-depth examination to determine the specific course of action.
- An experienced chiropractor should include a passive and active therapy style.
- A compassionate chiropractor should always be researching and should be up to date on all diagnosing and treatment criteria.
- A caring chiropractor should be able to speak to you plainly and make sure that you understand what is going on and that you are a part of the decision making process.
What Should You Look For?
Are they Patient-Centered?
Patient-Centered means that they take the time to listen to you about your complaint, do a thorough exam where they examine the correlating areas of complaint, do not rely on imaging unless it’s medically necessary, and talk to you about your specific complaint and create a plan to reach your goals as soon as possible.
What is their Focus?
Are they neurological, muscular, and skeletal focused with their diagnosis and treatment? Or are they explaining how adjustments can influence internal disorders, cure illness, or influence any other major medical condition?
Are they Supporting You?
Are they focused on building tolerance to load, strength and capacity to help improve pain and function? Or are they focusing on the adjustment and some passive therapy that helps in the moment? Do they take the time to talk or are they in and out in 5 minutes?
Common Questions
What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a mobilization of a joint. Joints between bones can become restricted and that leads to reduced range of motion and if it’s not addressed, can become painful. An adjustment applies a force through the joint to mobilize the joint and allow an improvement in function and reduction of pain.
Can I still use my insurance?
Being in a cash-based model does not mean you cannot use your insurance. You can submit a claim to your insurance company using a Superbill. This will have all of the information that your insurance company will need to reimburse based on your specific terms of the agreement.
What is a Superbill and how do I send it to my insurance company?
A Superbill is a detailed receipt of everything completed at the visit. This includes your information, services completed during that visit, and other information for your insurance company to be able to reimburse you from this visit. You will send it in the mail and if your insurance company approves it, then you will receive a check directly from your insurance company.
Can I use my HSA/FSA?
Yes! A Health Savings account and a Flexible Spending account allow you to use your healthcare saving benefits for healthcare costs incurred. It’s a very simple process, and saves money for our patients.
